Your 5 point checklist for getting good software development services


	Be clear on the main business benefits you expect to gain, and make sure your service provider understands them.

	Ask your software services provider to put in writing the shared expectations of the timeframes, costs and deliverables for the project.

	Request regular progress reviews throughout the project and expect the opportunity to provide feedback to steer the final product.

	Ask what the established variation process is if you need to change the design mid-project.

	Ask up front about the services warranty provided by your software services provider. While a warranty may not compensate for an ill-fitting design, it should give you a fallback position if the software contains programming errors or other obvious usability flaws.
